Derrick Taylor is a distinguished former federal agent and accomplished author with a 25-year career at the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). His experience spans multiple elite assignments, including the Fugitive Task Force Unit in Los Angeles, California. As a seasoned lead investigator, Derrick has directed complex, high‑skill criminal and civil investigations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, drawing on the advanced techniques he developed during years of specialized undercover operations.

After retiring from DHS, Derrick brought his extensive investigative and analytical expertise to the private sector, supporting Fortune 500 companies and high‑profile clients with precision, discretion, and strategic insight. A native of Los Angeles, he is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Academy in Glynco, Georgia, and began his federal career in 1998 with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Derrick’s career includes pivotal roles within the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, including a post‑9/11 assignment to the Joint Terrorist Task Force Unit in Washington, D.C. In 2007, he was promoted to Supervisory Prosecution Officer at the U.S. Central Attorney’s District Office in Los Angeles. In 2024, he further expanded his impact by serving as a Criminal Defender Investigator for the U.S. Central District Court of California.
